Milan Shah, Director, Virani Food Products Ltd

A spice trader by profession, Milan runs a small family business, established in Wellingborough since 1973, supplying ingredients to food manufacturers. Although currently based in London, he lived and then worked in Northamptonshire for over 30 years.

Milan has been active in promoting the food industry cluster both locally, through the Northamptonshire Food Group, and regionally, through the Food and Drink Forum, which is the sector support agency for the East Midlands. He also participates in international policy and representation work via the EU lobby for agri-produce traders, CELCAA, and is currently President of the global trade body for general produce traders, the IGPA. Within the county, Milan is a board member of Northants Chamber and its subsidiary Matters of Fact. Most recently he has been involved in establishing East Midlands Business as a joint venture between three Chambers of Commerce to deliver business support and skills brokerage services across the entire East Midlands. Milan is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors and qualified in 2001 as a Chartered Director, with a focus on corporate governance. He is also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, specialising in international commodity trading disputes.
