Mike Costin , Founder, Cosworth Engineering – Northampton
Mike Costin and Keith Duckworth co founded Cosworth Engineering in 1958 in London and relocated the business to Northamptonshire in the mid 60s. Cosworth quickly developed a reputation for building strong race engines with high performance levels and excellent support from engineers.
Once Cosworth started winning, they didn't stop. Between 1968 and 1974, Cosworth engines were running the cars of every World Champion. Between 1969 and 1973, Cosworth engines could be found inside the cars of every single race winner. A host of famous names benefited from the company's expertise - Jackie Stewart, Emerson Fittipaldi, James Hunt and Nelson Piquet all took championships using Cosworth engines during the 1970s. Mike, who is now retired, is an accomplished and well respected pilot, flying high performance gliders and light aircraft on a regular basis.
"The decision was made to relocate Cosworth to Northamptonshire due to its central location and equal access to all racing circuits. The county has an enviable location which benefits all our different industry sectors. Northamptonshire offers stunning countryside and picturesque villages, the perfect choice for work and leisure."
