Julian Winch, Financial Services Manager, Snap-On Tools
In 1983, when Julian joined US company Snap-on Tools at one of its UK branches, he managed a foundling operation financing customers who wished to purchase tools. In 1985 he took a lead role in developing the company’s financing operations and, using prior experience and some innovation, has since created a £30M+ business that finances around 20% of UK tools and equipment sales and will shortly be venturing into mainland Europe.
It is also one of the most profitable business units in Snap-on’s global operation of over $2.5Bn. Snap-on consolidated all its UK operations into Northamptonshire in 1996 when Julian and his family moved from Cheshire. More recently Julian has extended his local involvement, with his current positions as an Ambassador along with Directorship of the Chamber of Commerce and various prior roles with Explore and Invest Northants. He also graduated from Liverpool University with an MBA in 2006.
