American-owned Tandy Leather Factory Inc, a leading leather retailer that sells to wholesale businesses, manufacturers and hobbyists, has chosen Northampton for the location of its first European retail outlet and warehouse.
John McNiven, President of Canadian Operations, Tandy Leather Factory, stated that Northamptonshire was chosen to be its segway into the rest of Europe due to its central location and also because it is known as the leather capital of the UK.Tandy Leather Factory received support from both East Midlands Development Agency (emda) and Northamptonshire Enterprise Limited (NEL).
As well as liaising on Tandy Leather Factory's behalf with key intermediaries, NEL's inward investment team provided information on local recruitment agencies and estate agents.
Mr McNiven commented further that the support received from NEL was not only "extremely useful, but comforting to know there is someone he can turn to for advice, and that it is certainly appreciated". Inward investment plays a vital part in bringing high-quality, well-paid and interesting jobs into the region. Attracting new companies like Tandy Leather Factory to invest is essential in stimulating the local economy and creating new jobs.
