The Northamptonshire Business Summit 23rd June 2010

The Northamptonshire Business Summit - A one day event, the first of its kind, designed to bring the Northamptonshire business community together.
An opportunity to listen to high profile industry professionals sharing their experience and knowledge and for attendees to participate in lively discussion forums to raise awareness of key issues facing business in today’s economic environment.
The day will begin with an interactive debate with Alastair Cunningham from the Bank of England exploring the prospects for the UK economy, this will be followed by a further six interactive discussions (of which attendees can choose to attend two, one in the morning and one in the afternoon).
Speakers include, Nick Fry from Mercedes GP PETRONAS, David Rolton from the Rolton Group, Jon Thorpe from ACS amongst other leading business professionals, the discussions will be facilitated by Caroline Oldrey, former ITV Anglia news presenter and director of Stream Exchange, and Jonathan Nunn, CEO of Individual Team Performance.
This event is expected to attract around 200 attendees and we have limited places for each of the discussion forums, so please book early!

Invest Northamptonshire (a division of Northamptonshire Enterprise Limited) is the county’s investment promotion agency, created in 2004 to establish Northamptonshire as the first choice location for businesses to invest.
Northamptonshire Enterprise Limited is a partnership between the public, private and voluntary sectors. Our purpose is to develop the Northamptonshire economy and support job creation in one of the government’s key growth areas.

Charlotte Patrick
Charlotte is a Sector Development Manager, which involves working closely with various Invest Northamptonshire teams, including Logistics, Food & Drink, Financial services and the Contact Centres. She also runs a number of industrial estate groups across the county, which help companies on those estates to get together to network, share best practice and broach the issues they have in common.
At the moment these groups include Brackmills, Lodge Farm, Telford Way and DIRFT, and Charlotte is also involved in a number of others. Previously, Charlotte worked managing food trade associations for the industry and lobbying the commission. Her hobbies include travelling the southern hemisphere (she is planning trip number three!), baking and DIY

Michael Folkard
Michael is Investment Manager for Invest Northamptonshire, a role that oversees all inward investment enquiries. He manages our in-house enquiry system and has access to our comprehesive commerical property search. Michael works closely with the local commercial agents along with the boroughs and districts in the county to support and promote Northamptonshire. Michael's previous experience is in sales and marketing and project management for new products. Outside of work his interests include the motor industry, socialising and films.

Julie Furnival
Julie works as the Sector Development Manager for the Motorsport & HPE industry. Motorsport & HPE is the county's singular most important sector and Julie works with both industry representatives and the circuits to help raise Northamptonshire's profile as the Heart of Motorsport Valley®. Julie's background lies in Financial Services and she spent 23 years working for Barclays Bank. Outside of work, Julie's interests include shopping, the Saints rugby team, Liverpool FC, a bit more shopping, and increasingly Formula One and the Honda team in particular!

Julia Schumacher
Julia, who joined Northamptonshire Enterprise Ltd in January 2008, works as Ambassadors Manager. In this position she oversees the Northamptonshire Ambassador Programme. The Ambassadors Programme, which is by invitation only, comprises around 100 influential, innovative, strategic thinkers who are recognised as leaders in their field. These individuals are pivotal in the promotion and development of Northamptonshire. Prior to working at NEL, Julia worked in sales and marketing and business development, travelling nationally and overseas in Hong Kong. Julia is a keen dancer and regularly performs in ceroc cabarets, she has a passion for photography and loves spending time with her ten-year-old daughter, Ellie.

Richard Moore
Richard Moore is Sector Development Manager for Environmental and Sustainable Construction Technologies – these are relatively new sectors which offer high growth potential. He has previously worked at East Midlands Development Agency, as Director of Enterprise for a Northampton School and spent 8 years working in Southern Africa heading up a black empowerment venture capital initiative for a large Corporate. His interests are travel, films, tennis, cycling, the outdoors and psychology. He is also a trained counsellor.

Tim Bagshaw
Tim is responsible for the overall investment promotion and retention programme; providing the strategic lead and advise on approach, implementation and investment promotion activities.
He has led national and international investment promotion teams and campaigns in the North West and South West of England and since the start of 2005 has undertaken a range of consultancy projects, with a particular focus on sub regional / county based investment promotion activity.
Outside of work he likes finding fun ways to spend the weekend with his wife, entertaining his two sons and walking the dog – and attending the occasional Derby County game if he’s lucky!
