The Northamptonshire Business Summit - A one day event, the first of its kind, designed to bring the Northamptonshire business community together.
An opportunity to listen to high profile industry professionals sharing their experience and knowledge and for attendees to participate in lively discussion forums to raise awareness of key issues facing business in today’s economic environment.
The day will begin with an interactive debate with Alastair Cunningham from the Bank of England exploring the prospects for the UK economy, this will be followed by a further six interactive discussions (of which attendees can choose to attend two, one in the morning and one in the afternoon).
Speakers include, Nick Fry from Mercedes GP PETRONAS, David Rolton from the Rolton Group, Jon Thorpe from ACS amongst other leading business professionals, the discussions will be facilitated by Caroline Oldrey, former ITV Anglia news presenter and director of Stream Exchange, and Jonathan Nunn, CEO of Individual Team Performance.
This event is expected to attract around 200 attendees and we have limited places for each of the discussion forums, so please book early!

Northamptonshire Company Scoops Major UK Property Award
Northampton based property consultants Drake Commercial have surprised the property industry by winning a prestigious award "Best Deal in excess of 50,000 sq ft"at the IAS Property Awards. Beating off of competition from major national development and property companies such as Gazeley, Segro and Goodman.
Tony Drake, of Drake Commercial comments:-
“We were rather chuffed to have even been shortlisted for ‘Deal of the Year Over 50,000 sq ft’ but to then win it outright was incredible. To put it in perspective, it’s a bit like the Cobblers winning the FA Cup. We are only a small practice but it proves that we can punch above our weight against the big guys.
We are fortunate to have Stepnell as one of our more realistic and loyal clients and between us, in a particularly difficult market, we patiently put together a somewhat complicated deal on a 140,000 sq ft distribution warehouse. This involved four separate parties and included the surrender of the head lease and sub leasehold interests; dealing with dilapidations and an outstanding rent review; and the subsequent sale of the freehold to an owner occupier.
Below is a transcript of the judges comments before announcing Drake Commercial as the winners.
“So, we have a strong short-list and it’s been a particularly tough one for the judges. All are excellent deals, well delivered in very tough market conditions. However, the judges felt that the award should ultimately go to the entry demonstrating the best negotiating skills, which culminated in the successful completion of a complex, off market deal, on what many would perceive as a difficult and unfashionable product. The proactivity, creativity and sheer single mindedness of purpose really made this the 'stand out' candidate - truly a deal for the current times”.
