

The European Union has a significant influence on our economy. Through the various institutions in Brussels, and through to a local level via the nations and regions, there is no ignoring the importance of policy developments, legislation and funding programmes that come from Europe.
In 2004, the EU enlarged from 15 to 25 members, and in January 2007, it expanded again to 27 members. With this enlargement and the new discussions surrounding the EU funding allocations until 2013, it makes it important to be aware of these developments, and how they may influence Northamptonshire.
