Northamptonshire has one University - the University of Northampton - and a number of further education institutions. In addition to the education and schooling services, the county also has an online resource for information on traiing and learning in and around the county. See below for further details.
The University of Northampton
www.northampton.ac.uk
Located in the heart of England, the University of Northampton is one of the UK's newest universities, having been awarded full university status with research degree awarding powers in the summer of 2005. Our students get the great combination of high quality academic provision and an attractive, vibrant environment; and there are even more good reasons to choose the University of Northampton as students will pay less to study here that at most other universities.
Situated in green, wide open spaces, the location of the university encourages open-minded, creative thought. Park Campus is set in 30 hectares of open green parkland and is within easy walking distance of a busy local shopping area. The Campus has recently undegone a major redevelopment programme. Over the last six years £73million has been invested in new buildings, including specialised teaching areas for science, humanities and social sciences, professions allied to medicine, management and business.
Avenue Campus is less than two miles from Park Campus and is adjacent to one of the largest areas of parkland in Northampton, just one mile from the town centre. It is a major centre for art, design, technology, architecture and the performance arts. The Campus is equipped with workshops, laboratories, computer aided design suites, dance and drama studios.
A new programme of development is expected to see a further £80million investment made across both campuses over the next 10 years. As a medium-sized Higher Education provider, the University of Northampton can offer the best of both worlds. Students benefit from the scope and facilities of a larger establishment, while still retaining the personable attributes and caring community feel prevalent in smaller facilities.
